CK: Welcome back! We all started to worry.

Now TAVA should go up 1/2 point or so.

<< I've seen Dennis speak several times. Powerful speaker. >>

Agree, CK. I watched the 3 hour y2k conference aired by CSPAN recently. Grabow was not a featured speaker. He was relegated to the Q & A part of the session. In fact, he barely got on at all, as his question was the last. It wasn't a question, actually, but a very well articulated position on y2k. He made panelists like Yardeni look lightweight by comparison.

Cheryl, although you've become a preeminent expert on Y2K and embedded systems, you'll still always be a goddess here. I know I speak for all your friends here in wishing you the best.

CHERYL:

Smooch, smooch (it's OK, my wife's at garden club)...never so glad to be wrong. A couple of lapses in the 9's perfectly understandable.
Observations: Did anybody else notice that the Scott Liolios Tandem response (18649) was verbatim from the 18555 posting of Nanchate, save for a few footnotes.
That would lead me to believe that Tandem's Nanchate faxed the same information to Scott that he posted here. Not a big deal, just for your edification.
There are also those of you who challenged the technical knowledge of TAVA of the newly arrived shorts. These are typical 'wild west' traders. They have neither the time nor the interest to accumulate any information about the stocks they invest in. Many times, they don't even know specifically what business the company is engaged in.
You should also note that the response to ElGator superb financial analysis (18581) of the Tandem loan was name calling, the last bastion of the outclassed and outwitted.
TAVA still looks great. Revenue estimates for distant quarters are a futile exercise, but by any other reasonable criteria, TAVA is definitely worth the 'long' haul!

Hey guys,

Thanks for the "welcome backs". But please - don't rely on me so much. I really don't want that responsibility. Very flattering, but it's a heavy burden. Especially when times are tough.

Each day I learn more about market machinations. Very frustrating and disillusioning. I don't have a problem with people shorting a stock. But, I do have a problem with certain unethical shorts and their methodology.

When push comes to shove ... this Y2K embedded system problem will not go away. It will only get worse. There is a vast need for TAVA's services and product. I'm delighted at the TAVA hiring which has been going on.

TAVA is the ONLY company with a comprehensive, proprietary database which can be purchased with or without utilizing TAVA's full consulting and engineering capabilities. This is where they have NO competition.

Sure, EPRI has a utility database for $75,000 a pop. But EPRI (as of 3 weeks ago) only had 75 clients ... out of approx 8,000 utilities! Most of the nukes have signed up with EPRI, but the others can't afford that price tag for a database (no engineering services). That's where TAVA|RW BECK comes into play.

Raytheon supposedly has a database, but you need to contract with Raytheon for full engineering services for access. Different industry groups are starting to develop databases to share. One of the Y2K heads of a major oil company told me that they've approached TAVA to acquire information.

At the Houston conference I was at a few weeks ago (mostly Fortune 500 companies in attendance), someone brought up that Fluor wasn't doing Y2K work, except as a part of existing core business for on-going projects. I was the one that told them about Owens coming to TAVA from Fluor, liability issues, blah blah.

TAVA and Raytheon were the names brought up most frequently.

GM's working with 9 companies ... of which TAVA is one.

Someone from Pfizer's research facilities on the east coast asked me about TAVA. Next day I gave him a TAVA sales packet, including the TAVA White Paper. (Conversation started when I told him about Pfizer UK contacting me for my Y2K medical device report.) Normally I wouldn't have had this to give him, but when I got the call from the speechwriter for the Canadian Parliament, I was able to cajole TAVA into sending me 3 sets.

Pressure's on. Time's running out. Some of you who have been around for a while might remember when I wrote about the Kraft V.P. saying that there are NOT 500+ days to fix this on the plant floor. Because of lines being fully operational, scheduling problems, shutting down lines ... he was looking at 200+ days for remediation. And he anticipates massive problems starting Jan 1, 1999 ... not 2000!!

I met a guy from Kellog and told him about Kraft FULLY FUNDING, managing and providing personnel to fix Y2K plant floor problems for certain key suppliers. He told me Kellog is doing the same thing.

There's plenty of business out there ... now and well after Jan 1, 2000 for TAVA and TAVA's "competition". It always amazes me when people are SO naive as to think that these problems will suddenly go away and be corrected by 1/1/2000 - and there won't be much business after that. Give me a break!!

Shell U.K. has publicly stated that 70% of their Y2K budget is currently being spent on embedded systems. Shell International Shipping say 80% of their Y2K budget is currently being spent on embedded systems.

Unilever triples their Y2K budget after assessing plant floor. GM goes from $50mm to $500mm+ ... same deal.

There are many competitors in the IT sector, but amazingly ... still so few with embedded systems.

From my perspective, embedded systems is the achilles heel in this whole Y2K deal.

This is why I'm in TAVA, and believe in it so strongly.

But, it will be a rocky ... and sometimes boring road for a bit. I've accepted that. Some may not be able to. Do what's right for you. Everyone's risk tolerance and personal situation is different.

But please, if you're a "long" ... don't be swayed by some of these obvious "shorts". They look at stock ticks and often have NO idea what a company actually does.

And if you're a long ... you should definitely take the time to understand WHAT this company does, and how they fit into the Y2K picture ... and beyond.

Cheryl, great to hear from you! I didn't doubt for a minute that you had kept your TAVA. Unfortunately there were too many posts at that level while you were away. Hope you can stop in more often and improve the tone around here. :-)
