Hi, fellow AMATer's. I bought in today at 27 3/16. Looking to buy more next week. I've had two recommendations for AMAT today. One on CNBC this morning and the other somewhere on the net, but I can't remember where. Has AMAT bottomed or will I be able to buy even cheaper next week. I'm looking to hold at least 6 to 9 months. What do y'all think?

Richard,

My totally unsubstantiated gut feeling is that most of KLIC's new pushouts/cancellations are Taiwan. Taiwan was expanding earlier in the year but we have started to see a slowdown there and I think they are changing capital spending plans accordingly. Semi-equips with Taiwan exposure may be seeing similar actions if my idea is correct. However, other companies may not.

Dave

I agree, I started nibbling last night on klic and asyt
but sold it all quick when I heard the klic announcement.
After seeing that btb I thought maybe the downturn wasn't as
severe as it seemed, but hearing the klic announcement
confirmed that it is. I think this is worse news from klic
than they had during '96, isn't it? Now, it could be just
klic, which is likely to be hurt by japanese competition
with the yen being weak...but I'm just not getting that
feeling.
