#reply-4885867 . I think he hasn't been around for a real bear, but he survived the '87 and '90 corrections O.K. What I remember from the numbers I saw (and wish I could find) is that when he did not outperform, it was by a close margin. He definitely did not melt down. One other compliment I have for him is that many (actually most) managers have been hot during one phase of this grand bull, and have then fallen apart when their style fell out of favor. Sort of a sector rotation of bullish strategies. <g> He's survived this phenomenon. Actually, AIM is a good example of this. They have been chumps the last few years.

"A source familiar with the fund's performance said it gained 47% last year. A published report has placed returns at between 2% and 60% each of the previous eight years."

pathfinder.com

"Since the fund began in 1987, Cramer Berkowitz & Co. (Berkowitz is his low-key partner who does the research) has, after netting out the 20% cut of profits and 1% asset management fee taken by most hedge fund managers, outperformed the market in all but two years. The fund has had a nine-year compounded annual return of 22%, vs. the S&P 500's 14%."

I still thought I saw a year by year listing of the fund's performance, though I don't recall where.

>So, I would want to see how he performs when the fit hits the shan. if Cramer has been around long enough with his hedge fund and has a great record, then go, Jimbo, go. Far from me, preferably, <G>, as he is kind of irritating, but he still deserves kudos.<

MDB good point! not so difficult to do well following a momentum approach in the wildest bull market ever. When the fit hits the shan he will probably write about who he went 100% short the market the day before the market took a 50% dive because his wife told him to do so.

Is Cramer the sinner or the sin incarnated? -g-
