Computer and game graphics accelerator company 3Dfx Interactive (Nasdaq:TDFX - news) plummeted $3 9/16 to $18 on no news, although small firm Fahnestock & Co. started coverage of the company with a "buy" rating and a target price of $40. 3Dfx told us that it has no idea why the stock is moving because it has made no announcements regarding earnings or any other matter. "We're kind of baffled," said company spokesman Steve Schick, who added that the rumors circulating on the Internet message boards regarding statements made by the company's CEO or CFO are completely unfounded.
