Rick, In today's IBD, an related item: More Doctors Check Genes To Prevent Bad Drug Effects All doctors may soon give simple genetic tests before they write a prescription to make sure that the drug will actually work. They'll also be able to see if a patient will be one of the unlucky ones to suffer a serious side effect. The National Institutes of Health is launching a $30 million program to help drug companies find this information. The first patients to be checked will be women taking oral contraceptives and Alzheimer's patients. not specifically genotyping.. but thought it might be of interest.
