I threw in the towel at $69 1/4. I know that you guys will flame me,

No. No reason to flame you. We only flame those silly Intel short sellers. You know mostly of the AMD/Cyrix variety type that occasionally visit us, and we only flame when they go off the deep end.

It's simple. When AMD and NAT SEMI/CYRIX started low end PENTIUM competition, everyone laughed.

No. Not really. But AMD/Cyrix have been trying to copy Intel for years. If you had let AMD/Cyrix scare you away, then you would have missed out on some terrific runups between 1985 and 1996.

there is no reason to upgrade annually or even biannually like I and others did. My P166 can handle word processing, balancing the checkbook and schmoozing on the Internet about 99.99999% as well as a P400.

That is somewhat true. For how long will that remain true, nobody can be sure. But ADSL and Cable, as well as more robust applications are on the way.

Here's something else to consider. In 1929, radio was the rage and the world knew that TV was not too far behind. The monopoly stock of the time was a little company called RCA. Had you bot it in 1929, you would not have broken even until about 1968. Thats a long 40 years wandering in the desert!

Bernie, now you completely lost me. I don't follow your analogy. If you bought Intel anytime between 1971 to 1996 you did well. In fact you did astoundingly well. Anyway good luck. Dale

Bernie,

I was cleaning out some bookmarks this am and found this post of yours from last June. Are you still around? Are you lurking?

We're now up double from when you sold @ 69 1/4 last June.

I hope you were able to get that kind of return somewhere else.

Good investing,

Barry
