>>>Do you know where I think voice recognition will be a killer app? (Yes,
it's coming, my 2 cents!) . . . on the Palm Pilot or something like it.<<<

There's no doubt about that. Its just a matter of when everything can come
together to make the package small and inexpensive enough for the
mainstream market.

>>>The big drawback to one of those is the user interface. The lcd display
is poor, but passable, data entry via graffiti or on the tiny virtual
keyboard is below passable.<<<

The funny thing is that alot of top level C.E.O.s use the Palm. Even with
the high value of their time, they still take the time to manually enter all
the data by way of the current user interface.

>>> Palm sized computers will sell big when they have decent voice
recognition - and I'll be first in line to buy one.<<<

Yeah right, but you'll have to fight me off first. We'll order online
while sipping marguaritas on some south sea island. <g>

Would you mind writing the hardware specs that you think would be neccessary to make this appliance a reality(cpu, screen etc.). Also is this hardware available at this time. What size would this have to be? The same size as the Palm Pilot?

What would it cost now if possible to manufacture. What would it cost in the future?

Francis,
to do acceptable voice recognition in a palm pilot, you better get ready to stuff a very powerful microprocessor into that unit - then figure out how you'll power it and cool it.
