Earlie,

I don't think you are any longer. <g>

How long do you think the intervention and the talk the talk from Hashimoto is going to hold things in check? I've heard some speak of weeks. That seems a tad optimistic to me. What's your take on that?

Earlie, Excellent commentary. I also expect higher Japanese rates, as they really have no choice. That reduces flows to US Treasuries three ways: First, it makes Japanese bonds relatively more attractive. Secondly, it makes borrowing in Japan to lend in the US less palatable. And, third, it lays off a lot of Japanese workers who now have to spend their savings rather than investing them abroad.

The puts are working real nicely here, too. IBM is finally coming to daddy as Lou whispers to analysts that all the good stuff he said about the co. last quarter was just fantasy. Micron can't get away from the fact that they have to report earnings. Gateway can't dig into that writeoff slush fund forever. Only the airlines continue to do me dirty.

Good luck,

MB
