<<Sorry to be griping, but with all due respect, do you work for Linear Technology?>>

No, they work for me. -g-

What you need to understand is that it is usually impossible to connect a stock's movement to a single, or even a small number of causes. If you compare LLTC's recent stock movement with the other semiconductor stocks, you will see a good deal of downward volatility in almost all of them. It is clear that most of the stocks have had fundamental reasons to go down as their sales and earnings have been affected by a number of factors. It is not unreasonable to expect LLTC to move along with them, whether or not LLTC is significantly affected by those same factors. It is clear that the business effects on LLTC will be smaller than on most stocks, due to a high level of diversity of products. However, since this is well known, the normal valuation of LLTC is much higher, and there is further to fall if and when the business effects do appear.
