With $2 to $3 a minute, only the backpack-loving executives of some companies would be interested. How many executives are into backpacking in the middle of nowhere?

How many Truckers do you know who drive thru the middle of nowhere? Do you think they will keep paying $2-$3 a minute for cellular "roaming" when their coverage is so very limited and they could switch to Iridium and pay $1.50 a minute-- even in the middle of Wyoming or the Yukon?

How many multinational corporations do you think there are in the world? None? How many people do you think there are out on an ocean at any given time? Do you think they might need to call the office? Do you think they are going to have an alternative? There is inmarsat, but its much more expensive.

I know two friends working for two different hitech companies. Both are low level managers for OEM products. They have to travel oversea at least once per quarter, and they have to do lots of call-in conference meetings. Both told me that they seldom pay less than 4 digit phone bill during each 2-3 week trip. They have to rent a cellular phone from local. The perception may not be the reality.
