Pardon me for quoting and responding to myself.

I just re-read this and thought I should point out that the Iomega rep didn't seem to be the least bit disturbed by me shaking the drive. He didn't react at all. Just kept smiling and talking to me. But then, company reps at PC Expo get pretty numb after a while.

Still, if he was afraid I was going to break his demo unit, he didn't show it.
