Otter,

They would have to get enough attention either to make somebody buy them either to get the product or the people.

As to the product, there is nothing new or innovative enough to make the paperwork worthwhile for (Bay, 3Com, Ascend, Lucent or Cisco).

However, if there was a belief that the people could make a significant contribution, either because of ongoing R&D or just because they have great people, any of those players might grab them. Ascend specifically made a couple of plays which looked to me like employee grabs disguised as mergers, and none worked out well (good employees flee, mediocre ones stay). Unfortunately, most of the really sharp people are already gone. Ascend and 3Com had the opportunity to buy Gandalf when it was this weak and this cheap and they didn't do it ... and Gandalf's products were certainly better than OWLD. Gandalf went the Canadian version of chapter 11. (Guess that would be chapter 11-eh?)

So, I really don't see anybody grabbing them up. I remain neither short or long, but I'm watching and waiting for the quarterly report anyhow.
