I agree, good point!

I wonder if Ascend is not interested in being bought
out by LU or anybody if the price is not
to it's liking? Could it continue to do
as well on its own? Any ideas...don't follow Ascend
that carefully.

>> coms has roughly the same market cap (~9 billion) as asnd (10 billion) but with 5 times its revenue and a much better profit potential. <<

Oh really? Who has been making more money for the last few quarters, A$ND or COMS?

BTW it's only 4 times as much revenue, not 5.

Mang Cheng,

3com has only 11.4 million income in the last 2 quarters, much worse than Ascend.

Mang,

I think many people will agree that the guys with the money at the moment are the traditional telco suppliers, they are looking for someone with existing telco customers. 70% of revenue is the figure often mentioned as far as telcos are concerned on ASND's balance sheet
3Com are still too enterprise focused to be considered alone as a takeover candidate unless the prospective buyer has a Carrier Class ATM switch. Siemens I guess could be interested in conjunction with Fore or Newbridge but look further than turnover, look at product portfolio, people like Siemens/Ericsson/Lucent probably don't want to get involved with selling $60 NICs or $125 modems. These are very low margin products compared to what they're used to selling.
