>>I don't come to this thread for questions<<

That's obvious. Most people come here to learn, exchange
ideas. You obviously don't have that need.

All your analysis finished last fall, and there's no
need to review it.

>>I'm all ears, refresh my memory. Why are modem sales
going to pick up?<<

You obviously don't read my posts, except when I'm
attacking you. And that's because that's the only
thing you're interested in...protecting your ego.
[REFER TO THIS AS "ANSWER A"]

>>people don't belong on this thread if they aren't
100% as bullish as you are about COMS.<<

Right, I see now problems whatsoever with COMS.(sic)
....<Insert previous answer>

>>So why do you go beserk when COMS moves a point
or two each way<<

....<Insert previous answer>

>>
::I think your familiar with this concept being that you own CIEN for the very same reasons::

Sold it.<<

Why am I not surprised by that answer?

>> ::I'm not looking for miracles this quarter, but I'm looking for some progress ::
<<

You and everyone else.<<

Right..."every ones given up on the stock", but we're
all looking for miracles. I'm sure in your mind that makes
lots of sense.

>>So what if it is cleared up, that doesn't mean they can start clogging it up again because there aren't enough orders to sell through.<<

Oh, so now you know specifics on earnings report....oh, I
forgot, you know everything.

>>Do you not follow the Asian markets? Do you
keep up with the news? Do you see what kinds of numbers companies exposed to Asia have been reporting?

...< insert ANSWER A >

>>Look at the currencies and stock markets in Asia. Look at the economic conditions. Look at what companies have been reporting for
Asian sales. Try spending less time on this thread and go read the newspaper or watch CNBC.<<

...< insert ANSWER A >

>>Always asking for substance but never offering it. Why don't you show me some facts that point to COMS business rebounding. Not your opinion or hope, but actual facts.<<

...< insert ANSWER A >

>>Can't I agree with the direction of their estimates?<<

Sure, at your convenience your slick at it.

the rest of your stuff is just the old 'Craig' news clips.

>>Furthermore, you are right. I do have all the answers and
don't need to listen to your daily diatribes to arrive at a conclusion. I just enjoy sparring with you.<<

Like I said, the only way to get your attention is
to attack your ego.

CRAWFORD, have fun chomping on the next post.

CRAWFORD: This sounds like something you might write...

This is from the M.Fools

boards.fool.com

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This weeks issue of InternetWeek Magazine says that 3Com has the dominant position in the Remote Access Market:
26% 3Com
25% Ascend
25% Cisco
24% Other (Shiva, Bay, Lucent..)
Unfortunately, 3Com's sales of RAS dropped in the first quarter of 98 to $139 million from $172 in in Q497. Both Ascend and Cisco reported sales increases.
Why? a possibility -- according to previous issues of Interactive Week magazine, technical support for former USR products is pretty bad, but especially for the Total Control line. Some ISPs report ongoing unresolved issues even if they have unlimited product support as part of their purchase agreement.
I hate to say it, but this reminds of Ascend a year ago. It just seemed nothing could go right for the company no matter what they did. Don't get me wrong and think I am just a 3Com basher, someday I hope I can own this company and ride it up when it finally turns around.
...Moral?... so COMS products suck, but they sell better than Ascends
CRAWFORD's message, part II
more confusion....
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

"Unfortunately, 3Com's sales of RAS dropped in the first quarter of 98 to $139 million from $172 in Q497. Both Ascend and Cisco reported sales increases."

I've rung 3Coms before on the market share figures in general before and the answer I get is "we have been reducing channel inventory, and the market share figures have been calculated on factory shipments, not customer purchases".

For the last quarter, they have been saying that this is over. I'm waiting for the results to be announced next week, and hoping for evidence of the turnaround - besides more product announcements. Why am I sceptical?

...Moral?....COMS will exceed estimates and drop 5 pts
