I agree with the specifics and spirit of your post. Yes the currency depreciation carries other risks and that is why, as you said, Rubin blinked. BTW I suspect it was more likely his boss blinked and Rubin is being the good soldier. Given the depth of the problem I see no way we are going to get out of this without some pain being felt in the system. Definitely a rock and a hard place. And with politicians, both ours and foreign politicians, being the courageous far-sighted souls they are will almost certainly try and find an easier way out. As you say inflate, defer and deny. Btw as I poste earlier I think there are other commodities that will perform better than gold. That doesn't make be anti gold. In the early stages of the comming cycle I believ industrial commodities such as the energy complex will out perform gold.
