Hi Ken,..Re:<< Would you agree that the 'environment' that the computer is operating in more 'defines' the function of 'workstation' or 'stand alone' than the hardware itself,>>

In the interest of keeping things simple, it is my impression that workstations are defined by function and hardware and have nothing to do with WAN or LAN connections. In my experience, they are configured for primarily special applications or functions which require upgraded or high performance software/hardware and are highly differentiated from desktops. Could they be explained so easily?

Regards,

Lee

I like lee's response. I would answer that from a product and revenue perspective the hardware and software specific to the workstation market as narrowly defined in the Unix workstation space is what is of interest to investors. The term workstation has become somewhat generic but that is not the key to understanding the product development or positioning issues.

Good evening, MSD,
Have my proxy in hand, and will be voting on the shares of stock to 3 billion.

Also, Don Carty is a fine CEO of AMR and I highly recommend his appointment to the Board of Directors od DELL. Good choice.
