What firm or analyst reported this ratio? Is it one that really has credibility in the industry?

This was a comment by the guest host on CNBC squawk box. To back him up he had a graph of the OIX or OSX divided by the price of crude for three years. It showed a barely uninterupted rise. As for being an alltime high - I took him at his word and even if it was a 3 year high, it was worth noting.

Why he made this point was that there has been increasing talk of entering the oil service stocks as a value or even defensive play. He felt that there was more downside for these strategies to be appropriate for this group.

Sorry I don't remember who the guy was but I doubt he falsified his data.
