Regarding: "The best engine of growth would be thru Consultants. They should set up a school for system certification and promote this heavily in countries such as India and S.E Asia."

In fact, Informix has been quite active and successful in A/P (excluding Japan) by both doing some SW development in India and having the local Informix offices work closely with third party "in-country" consulting and reseller operations in China, Korea, Singapore, etc. Bill James, the Informix VP for A/P, is very good and has been building a solid, no-games-played business for three+ years. They are weathering the Asian crisis and he now has responsibility for Informix Japan and is rebuilding that operation.
