Joseph,

JMHO, but it has been my *painful* experience which taught me never to sell DELL calls into earnings and annual shareholder's meetings. One can sometimes make a reasonable profit by doing it *immediately* after earnings, if the earnings don't meet expectations. My opinion: don't sell July calls.

Of course, it depends on how big a gambler you are. If the market dips sharply towards the end of the month, you might have a chance to buy them back at a discount. But I am fairly sure that the stock price will be well above 85 at July expiration.

BTW, all Micron did was say that chips are selling at fire sale rates. That helps DELL maintain margins even if ASPs decline. Before I get jumped on: IMO it doesn't matter significantly if DELL uses Micron chips... Micron's competitors are also getting squeezed by the glut, so all chips are cheaper.

Regards, 3.

IMO, selling July $85 covered calls for $4 3/4 is not a good strategy.I expect that the July period will be very strong for techs given that the Naz has experienced a 10% pullback since April & that most of the bad news is out with regards to earnings warnings. I expect DELL to go through $90 just after the Compaq report and crash through its previous $98 1/4 resistance sometime in late July or early August. If I were you I would wait for September & October to sell DELL covered calls.

DELL is never willing to take a rest. It's simply a very volatile issue with huge upside momentum. After a huge consolidation period, it's ready to make a move. I think that within a month you will see mid 90s at least. There is a fat chance that DELL will break the old high in mid to late July and rally to 110-120 when next earning reprot comes out.
