To All - Need suggestions for new broker, Merrill su*ks...

Any suggestions would be appreciated. I've used Steven's (they sold to FiServe). FiServe had my account so screwed up that the bank was calling every week needing and extra 6 grand (Does anyone know how hard it in to scrape, borrow and beg 6 grand from your friends in less than an hour!?). Apparently FiServe thought their customers should pay on a T-1 (Derivatives) but they would make payments to the account on a T-4. I did get the letter of apology (big deal).

So I thought (LOL) that Merrill might be a "safe" place to have my account. Sure it's safe, my broker has been out for 2 months having twins and the crushing commissions would be enough to support the Japanese economy. I think their theory is you'll have less risk without being able to get a hold of your broker and by having the most prohibitive commissions in the industry i.e. 50 shares of pre-spilt Dell @ 137, for a commission of 150. Derivatives are even more scary 235-in and 240-out for 10 to 30 contracts.

Any of you who have had experience with DLJ-Direct, E-Trade, Brown & Co or any other, I would appreciate your views.

I had the best luck with Steven's Inc. before they were sold, wish they were back!

Thanx
