My understanding is that the rumor was started this morning, and it was stated that Bernard Schwartz has said this. It was categorically denied that this was the case from someone at the conference, as well as by Loral and G*.

It probably did the job that the person who stated the rumor wanted---it dropped the price.

Beefeater:

Thanks for the rumor and more importantly thanks for the rumor disclaimer. I like to be able to make my investments based on all the information I can get my hands on. Rumor, fact, whatever. I'll pick out the pieces I think are important regardless of the label. Thanks for the addition.

For what it is worth, handset shortages will not delay the start up. Absence of handset would but I don think the production process is so messed up that they will not have any until mid 1999.

<<Asking anyone: would it have been better to keep this unsubstantiated story to myself?>>

IMO, NO, Beefeater. I appreciate any and all "news", "rumors", etc, etc, etc. It's my responsibility to use or not use the "information" as I choose. It's threads and remnants that combine to make up the tapestry. Thanks. ...Tim
