Nacchio on CNBC:

- we would consider the MCI properties if they represent a good value for us and help us advance our business plan (a la LCI).

- we can always build our way into this space (selling bandwidth to corporate accounts and ISPs) so we're under no pressure to buy. the question is "what's the best way for QWST: buy or buy?"

- there are synergies between MCI assets and QWST.

- we have had conversations with WCOM.

- we have incomparable underlying network.

- no bandwidth glut. voice is not the future. data, video, conferencing, telemedicine, etc. are the drivers for growth and QWST's net is built for data. the data revolution is already started, and incumbents with voice-centric networks are scrambling.

CNBC didn't ask anything about LCI, partnerships w/ Baby Bells, or any other topics. news of MCI/WCOM merger was the focus of the interview.

Nacchio did well but CNBC was a bit disorganized and didn't have good questions. Nacchio didn't have any QWST-specific news to trumpet so it was all a bit of a no-op.

I have no idea if he was even on CNBC. I am at work...I would like to know. It doesn't appear to have worked if he was on.
