You could lock in profits but you have to pay Capital Gains Tax at the end of the year, the tax law was changed.

Skeeter - I am not clear on this. It may have to do with TAXES or it may be in violation of some statute. About 2 months back they came out with a ruling that if you shorted against the box (theoretically you bought other shares with the money) then the transaction had some problem (either it was taxed right away or was not allowed). One of my friends sold his shares in the company he took public and the brokers arranged a short against the box to spread his risk and put him in safe stocks. Will check into details and let you know.

BTW as I posted to you, TXN is in fact giving MU a $750 Mil loan.
