How do you say this? I see the announcement posted at 4:12pm on CNNFN.

This "pre-announcement" news was disclosed before the market closed.

Craig, if they told anyone before the close the things the CNNfn article attributed to them, they only told you and a select few others. The only mentions of losses in any news I can find is a reference to the Viaweb charge-off at 10:40 this morning and an even more brief "will post a loss for the quarter" (seemingly in reference to Viaweb again) at 3:12, but that $45 million charge was disclosed back on 6/8 if not earlier. The new information in the CNNfn story was that revenue growth was slowing and that marketing and other expenses would be higher for some unspecified period of time. The obvious implication is that one should reduce both revenue and profitability expectations independent of the previously disclosed "acquisition charges" (Ha! They're practically charging off the whole damn thing).

Anyway, if the weakening late in the day was due to this, I sure don't see the news story to support that theory.

But, buy the dip. Revenues and profits don't matter anyway. It's all about investor enthusiasm for the future of a space already won, right?
