Bobby, the move to smaller entities is alive and well and continuing. My McDonalds post was in jest.

As for consumers driving the economy, I think that's mostly because of easy credit, and the stock market boom, not because people are in fact wealthier. With bankruptcies already at record levels, I'm not sure what will drive the economy as the debt is paid back, or liquidated.
