I don't disagree that there are significant synergies, but I don't see them
partnering in a merger. Newbridge is in deep trouble in that they don't
have the sheer mass needed to go it alone, and don't have the earnings to
command a high enough price to satisfy their shareholders. The proverbial
rock and hard place.

I'm now becoming doubtful of a LU-->COMS merger. However, another party
comes to mind of late, one where the overlap does not exist, but numerous
current strategic alliances do - Siemens AG. A natural in this era of
"convergence" and consolidation. We could do worse!
