CISCO vs. LU vs. NT ... why not just buy all of them and wait ... At some point there would be 3 - 5 major vendors of telecom/datacomm products and the rest will be small niche players. There doesn't need to be only 1 in the networking industry. Service providers, in fact, don't want that kind of scenario. LU and CSCO and NT have been signing contracts after contracts. There was a time when CSCO and BAY stock prices were running neck to neck. Then the gorilla CSCO emerged, and BAY was just a chimp.

I like all 3. I like CISCO's high profitability, Lucent's technological prowess (I live in New Jersey and I've done some programming work there at some point ... kid's stuff according to the people at Bell Labs). And NT, I'll give their BAY merger a chance.
Now, I may be dreaming but maybe, this LU and CSCO squabble could turn out to be a prelude to a romance, then a wedding. Who knows?
