Profit would probably be the way to go if you are new to neural networks. It tends to shield you from a lot of the more advanced features in NGO. Profit uses a set of default values for the NGO, but you can change these later as your neural network skills improve. Profit also imports Metastock data, which saves you from having to export everything to ASCII files (assuming you use or have access to Metastock format). It also has some built in functions for data transformation, or manipulating your data to make the patterns in it more visible to the net. This includes basic TA indicators such as moving average (including Adaptive!), RSI, percent change, momentum, etc.

So far my success with the package has been limited. I have a buggy NT 4 setup that I installed Profit/NGO to, and it has been giving me a lot of trouble. I will be reinstalling everything over the weekend. I did need to call tech support last week, and it was great. I was passed on to Carl Cook, who was very helpful, and he emailed me a new copy of the .exes within an hour. Overall I am impressed.

There is a forum on the BioComp website for Profit users to discuss tips, techniques and pretty much anything else. You can also download the latest releases from here, post questions for tech support, add suggestions for upcoming releases, and download some examples.

You do have to remember however that this is software under development. There are still a few rough edges. But overall it works well.

For the price it is an excellent value. If you take the time to learn how to use a neural net properly and stick with it, Profit and NGO will make you some money.
