Dear elepet - no problem. You asked again "Question again..if at the actual time of merger stock prices are down lower, what will happen?... Am I the only one confused?"

1st, I should make the disclaimer that I am as thick - if not more so. So you are listening to my nonsense at your own peril <VVBG>. The answer to your question is straight forward: if NT stock went further down at the time of the merger, and if you held on to the BAY shares, you would get .6 percent of NT stock with that share price, i.e., the value of your portfolio at that particular instance would have less value. OTOH, the opposite is also possible.

The forces and mechanics at work here [and elsewhere] are supply and demand. If people want something bad, something is in demand and thus its value. If not, not.

While I agree with you that SI has a collection of the best minds I ve seen - some of them [obviously I am not part of them <g>] are knowledgeable in investing as well as the respective sector. However, I would caution you that it is possible there are also hypsters and shorters in the midst. And no offense [I say what I am going to say because I prefer to be a blunt friend to a slick user,] judging from your questionings, it may be worthwhile for you to think about why you want to invest in individual stocks and to take some time to read some relevant materials [on and offline] etc. Again, if you know what you want and what you are capable of dealing with, then the rest is easy [or easier,] whether you win or lose

Best, Bosco
