Thread, no need to read, I should have kept this private. No useful info is discussed. Sorry Steve if I put words in your mouth that you did not think. Thanks for the post! I liked it. Now let me precise one or two things. The stock had a low of 14 1/8 on Friday June 12 and a high of 19 1/2 on Wednesday June 17, that's 4 days, sorry, not 3 days and 38% not 40%. Mea culpa for being inaccurate. It is also unusual for a stock to go up that much in response to a company announcement then go down 16% BEFORE a negative announcement made after the market closes! You will also be hard pressed to name other stocks that have done this. It has happened, but it is NOT NORMAL! Again, I am not saying you are wrong and I am right, not at all : I looked at things differently how could I have known there would be an announcement? However, I asked my broker to buy me some puts because the run-up had been too fast with no retracement. For me it was logic to see some profit taking. Now of course, the extreme volatility of the stock is per se abnormal. I do not question this. As a market participant I saw an opportunity based on the past volatility of the last days. There was no certainty but...investing in the market is about taking bets. As regards the designation of another stock, similar but not identical, look at SMOD : 20 1/4 on April 13 26 3/4 on May 11 (+32%) 21 7/8 on May 15 21 5/8 on May 21 (-20%) Earnings report with doom forecast for 3q and 4q on May21 13 1/8 on May 22 (-40%) Here the run-up occurred during a longer period, the stock was also more liquid.About the only thing that seems to gyrate this much is your opinion. YES undoubtebly my opinion has changed but it's never gyrated "this much". I've always been bullish on this one but became wary in the last 2 months. My words: "As for SanDisk, I have come to the conclusion that limtex has perfectly understood the reality. Ausdauer brought new light on this company a few weeks ago. These doom prospects were my fear and are now tangible : CF is not profitable, MMC will not be any different." These were fears I did not believe to be true but I (and we) must conclude that they are for real. So why wouldn't I change my mind? It can only prove that I am not totally dumb. By the way you're also putting words that don't belong to me in my mouth! I never wrote : "Nothing is ironclad, but their patents and the "no hype" conservative management style exhibited by Ely are good enough for me." That's 1-1 right? :)) Moreover you're using journalistic tricks to alter reality : cut one part of the sentence and forget the beginning so that the rest looks and says something else than the writer did mean. You deserve the yellow card for that (soccer) => your quote"CF is not profitable, MMC will not be any different. There are bigger players out there who waited for CF to establish itself and now they are killing SanDisk. Story repeats itself. Get out and find something else." Rex, limtex and Ausdauer (maybe others) said or implied the very first sentence. I just restated, this is thus not mine originally. See Message 4929673 . You know I'm on the board to learn from the others and believe me I learn a lot! Not from the information itself but from the way people understand the same information. It is amazing how we all have our biaises. Changing one's mind give flexibility indeed. And you get nearer from the truth if it ever exists.I'm just having a little fun. We can use some about now, don't ya think? You're right it's the right time! I hope you accept this message, I can't help but respond. You know, I studied law for 5 years and was trained as a lawyer, it's what people call a serious illness, right? This gives you food for pulling your leg on me. Hope SanDisk reaches 667 Steve!
