I am not purchasing any stocks these days.
But when I do they are longterm holdings in companies that are dominant
in various sectors with good products or services. Although you like to
buy off a down market it is not so important in a long horizon.

Industrial products are a large sector and a well developed international
exposure would be important. Many use the Value Line system for picking the
companies. Know where they are in their cycle, know what the management
has accomplished, know their fundamentals and pay attention to market
defining events.

Asia since October has caused me to pause and rethink many of my longterm
holdings and shortly may begin more active hedging or actually selling.
If within the next few weeks or months and there is no substantive movement
within Japan then their silence is worth listening too.

However, so far nothing suggests any more then a 15% decline from 9200 Dow,
but as Asia recovers the return to 9200 should be fast in the years ahead.
I do not expect a melt down I just listen.

Good Luck
