A rather thoughtful post in the MU thread:

Message 4931924

Yesterday, I was having difficulty trying to see if the deal was good or not for TI... Today, i'm optimistic. Long and short of it is that (1) TI gets out of a losing deal that would continue to suck profits from other lines (2) TI uses a (large) percentage of the cash and equivs they have laying around to assist MU in making maximum benefit out of the deal; (3) TI gets some return on the financing offered, and (4) an ownership stake in an industry where, while the competition is fierce, the competition has dramatically gone down with this move.

The article in today's WSJ was also very encouraging, and I think on balance the swings today will not be indicative of the future.... My own opinion... Humble as it is.
