David, thanks I see your point but I am still a forever bear on MU -I guess I'm stubborn. This acquisition does seem to buy them time due to the loans plus it has "marketing value" -hype) . micron certainly is a fighter but I still think they are dead meat. I was not short only OCT puts so I'm fine for now. I learned that with Micron anything can happen so no way would I hold July puts even though they seemed like a sure thing and then boom - the TI deal! Good trading Mike

Dave, you may or may not be right. Who the hell knows. Micron is not out of the woods yet and the trouble MU is having breaking above the last high is not encouraging to the bulls. Don't gloat on short term moves. They have a tendency to whipsaw ya.

RESEARCH ALERT-TI ,Micron reiterated
NEW YORK, June 19 (Reuters) - Gruntal & Co. said Friday analyst Mona Eraiba reiterated her ratings on Texas Instruments Inc. and Micron Technology Corp. after Micron agreed to acquire TI's dynamic random access memory (DRAM) business.
-- Reiterated strong buy rating on TI with 12-month price target of $70 a share.

-- Reiterated hold rating on Micron ''as the DRAM market searches for a bottom.''

-- Said plans to raise earnings estimates on TI following the company's July report of second quarter earnings.

-- Shares of Texas Instruments rose 11/16 to 55-3/16 and Micron rose 1-11/16 to 23-15/16 in early morning activity.
