HMO Reportedly Won't Cover Viagra

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Kaiser Permanente, the nation's biggest health maintenance organization, will announce today that it will not cover Viagra, the new impotence treatment, the San Francisco Chronicle reported. The newspaper said the HMO will also announce the policy will apply to other prescription treatments for impotence, including those not yet available. The deciding factor was cost. Even if users were limited to 10 pills a month, Kaiser estimated the cost would exceed $100 million a year, the newspaper said.

I wonder if VVUS will be included in the noncovered ED therapies.
