Hi Michael,

Well, in the realm of wild speculation, if I were to pick a candidate for taking over S3, it would probably be IBM. I have a very healthy respect for their R&D capabilities and with S3s patent hoard, the possibilities could be interesting. I saw somewhere S3 has a poison pill in place to prevent a take out below 14, so a stock swap of 6 SIII for 1 IBM wouldn't be out of the question, IF that kind of deal took place.

There's your seed for a rumor. All perfectly legal in the way of expressing opinions about making future predictions or guesses about things that COULD happen. Keep in mind that I haven't heard anything at all and don't know if IBM would even be interested. If someone went over to the Yahoo thread and said something about seeing something about IBM taking out S3 in a 6 for 1 stock swap, I don't suppose there would be anything I could do about it. I've never been able to figure out how some of these rumors get started in the first place. Reuters seems to start most of them.

Regards,

Don
