Paul,

I am not in the semi industry but have no reason to doubt the reports from various sources, pertaining to over capacity. The most recent claims that there are 15 fabs too many.

Is there any logical reason why someone would spend money now? MU just showed the Taiwanese that if they want some more capacity, they can "buy" it cheap. Do you really think the Taiwanese have money to burn? Further more, whether you think it will happen or not, the potential of the re-unification of China has to play a part in "long term" investment decisions in Taiwan. Clinton can send Taiwan tumbling if he just mumbles a more friendly tone towards the idea during his upcoming visit.

AMAT is going to be one fantastic buy one day. The question is which day. I guess if you already hold a position for long term purposes, what it goes down to in the mean time really doesn't matter.
