As far as I can tell, the interviews are for real. The joke is how the interviewees take everything so seriously and don't realize the humor in what's going on. How about those senior citizen strippers? I about fell out of my chair when the one lady said she was too modest to strip below the waist in public. I've never heard anyone refer to SportsCenter as a "very nice" sportscast. It's kind of irreverent, doesn't take itself or its subject matter too seriously, and, IMHO, is the most informative and entertaining sports program around. So in that respect it is very nice.
