Interesting thought. I believe that it's quite normal for people to seek patterns. Free thinkers also seek patterns but tend to look outside the box. They view chaos as a challenge. Those who abhor conformity, and seek the thrill of exploring the unknown, truly experience life in its fullest.

It's understandable to want to invent answers to questions that are inherently unanswerable. Perhaps that's the main function of religion. There is lots of room for plausible speculation in this area and I indulge in it myself. "What if....?" can be a lot of fun and lead to exciting new ideas and possibilities. If certain people feel secure in believing what I perceive to be irrational dogma, that's quite OK by me. Just as long as they don't attempt to force me to conform to their point of view.

I would hate to live under a theocracy just as much as under a secular totalitarian regime. I'll take chaos and freedom any day. ;-)
