Terrence, in regard to Emile, I am wondering if Bible literalists become unconverted very frequently. I know a lot of people are joining up with born-again religions lately, but have you ever heard of anyone who became disillusioned for some reason and dropped out of one of them?

Because Emile was gone for awhile, that was certainly at least a remote possibility. Now I am wondering if he went to Texas for that Ku Klux Klan march in Jasper, the town where that poor black man was dragged to his death. Did anyone see the Klan leader on tv yesterday? He said his group would not participate in a hate crime like that, that it was absolutely a wrong thing to do. He perceived himself as a pro-white civil rights worker, not a man of violence. I am still trying to figure out whether he was telling the truth. It seems very cruel to march in a town that has already been traumatized by such a horrible deed. But the man seemed pretty sincere at the same time.
