New Cruise Programs Offer the Finest Choices at Sea
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 19, 1998--Cunard, the world's leading luxury cruise line, Friday introduced its full 1999 cruise program with the launch of the new edition of The Art of Cruising, its annual compendium brochure providing itineraries, pricing and extensive information on all ships, destinations and services for its fleet of five-star luxury cruise ships: the Queen Elizabeth 2, Royal Viking Sun, Vistafjord, Sea Goddess I and Sea Goddess II.

Beginning with world cruises aboard QE2 and Royal Viking Sun in January and concluding with once-in-a-lifetime millennium celebration cruises on all five ships in December 1999, Cunard ships will bring sophisticated travelers together to explore the world in unparalleled luxury. Destinations rich in the opportunity for exotic adventure are featured to points all over the globe, including the South Pacific, Asia, the Caribbean, South America, Australia, Africa, Arabia, the Mediterranean, Europe and North America.

QE2 will make 17 transatlantic crossings in 1999. The April 14th crossing from Southampton to New York marks the 30th anniversary of QE2's first transatlantic sailing and will be cause for celebration, as will the last transatlantic of the 20th century departing Dec. 12th from Southampton. In addition to its transatlantic service, QE2 will depart Jan. 5 on its 104-day world cruise, with other cruises throughout the year to the Caribbean, the Mediterranean, New England, Northern Europe, Bermuda and the Canary Islands.

Royal Viking Sun's 1999 schedule features numerous unique destination opportunities, from the 122-day Grand Circle Pacific and Orient world cruise, to the African Passage from Greece to Kenya in the fall. From Kenya, the ship continues on to South Africa, then crosses the Atlantic to Argentina. Several maiden calls in Brazil follow, along with stops in the Caribbean enroute to Miami.

Vistafjord circles the Pacific in early 1999 with a 57-day round-trip San Diego cruise departing from San Diego Jan. 18th. Segments are available, from 10 to 29 days, on this idyllic voyage to Australia and the South Pacific. After spending the summer in the Mediterranean, Vistafjord will cruise the Black Sea for optimum viewing conditions of the Full Solar Eclipse on Aug. 11.

The luxuriously indulgent Sea Goddesses begin the year on different sides of the world, with Sea Goddess I in the Caribbean and Sea Goddess II in Australia, the Orient and Arabia. Both ''super yachts'' cruise the Mediterranean in the summer months, then both move to the Caribbean for the fall season, leading to a joint-celebration of the millennium in Virgin Gorda Dec. 31, 1999.

New initiatives for 1999, based upon Cunard's continuing commitment to quality service, include:

A fleet-wide early booking discount, allowing passengers to save 20% when deposits are made up to 180 days prior to sailing, for all cruises except the world cruises.
A new optional air program from 117 gateway cities throughout North America, including complimentary transfers between airport and pier, optional Concorde upgrades, and upgrades to first or business class air travel.
Cunard White Star Service, created in honor of the world's finest cruise tradition, brings passengers distinctive amenities and services on all five ships. Examples include financial fax and E-mail service fleet-wide, single-seating dining, concierge service, computer and business centers, and numerous distinctive services unique to each ship.
New smoking policies for ship's dining rooms as a result of recent passenger surveys.
