Thread,

Another all-time high for CSCO, only $ 8 Billion away from LU's market cap. Any quesses when CSCO surpasses LU in market cap ? I say end of quarter run in July pushes CSCO to $ 90 and we surpass LU by September.

Cheers,

Peppe

A lot of Bell labs research in the optical fields were done years ago and at that time there was not a need to implement them (no markets!)

Eric, I don't think I agree with this. Bell Labs, Bellcore, and IBM Research for many, many years funded pure research products. Often, the only fruits yielded by these projects were patents. I'm sure these three hold many, many patents that are applicable to optical networking.

It surprises me that Cisco simply doesn't license these patents. But then again, if Cisco feels they also have patents basic to networking, then they would push for more favorable cross-licensing agreements.

You are right about one thing, the attorneys will go at it for a long time.
