RESEARCH ALERT - Ericsson raised to buy
NEW YORK, June 22 (Reuters) - Volpe Brown Whelan & Co. said Monday it raised its rating on U.S. traded shares of Sweden's Telefon AB L.M. Ericsson (LMEb.ST) to a buy from a neutral.
-- Analyst Pete Peterson said Ericsson will add significantly to its technology portfolio, specifically in datacom, in the near term via an acquisition.

-- Price target of $35 per share.

-- Peterson said he does not believe Ericsson will make a massive, dilutive acquisition, and is likely to acquire technologies not companies.
