Believe me Rob, I can relate.

But in all fairness SEC staff attorneys are underpaid and overworked.

Many of them generally want to do the right thing, but it really comes down to their making the cases that will elevate them out of gov't employment and into the private sector (where they can make mega $$$ defending clients against their gov't replacements.

The internet really have the SEC stumped. On one hand they don't want to stifle the free exchange of opinions and analysis on a company, but then they also want to prevent the exchange of "inside information" and manipulative practices.

And they face this task with VERY limited resources. The Miami office has been operating an internet "surveillance" using law school interns to monitor discussion threads and look for suspicious activities. So they are generally limited to "scanning" threads or operating from target lists generated from upper echelons. This was the same office that "nabbed" 6 companies during the spring of 1997 and put the "habeus grabbus" on their trading status. So far as I know, only GRNO continues to trade in any status. The other 5, including GIFS, have gone belly-up.

I have advocated for some time an organized effort for self-policing on these threads. I beleive in people bringing up negative information so long as it is not pure unsubstantiated rumours. We all know that BB stocks are inherently risky affairs, but we all have a duty to prevent scams from occuring out here since it just provides ammunition to those who would discount the collective intelligence of online investors. I tried to get this point across to Arthur Levitt at one of his hearings on microcap fraud, but to no avail, my point being that online investors are better suited to policing the unruly wilderness of the internet so long as we are given the regulations and tools that force corporate disclosure.

Stepping off my soapbox now.... Thank you for reading another of my oh so lengthy postings... <VBG>

Regards,

Ron

Ok, RBM, I'll apologize for my fork comment. T'was a bit harsh... although I don't know why my commentary on any stock would matter.

MG Out.
