Mike I would not be happy with 75 a share. I also think that his numbers are all wrong! I think a merger is much more possible then a takeover. I still think Motorolla(with new mgmt) is agreat combo. Besides Mot can get all their engineers back!

"Well, maybe it's just late on a Friday but Malcom Dent's comments put a dent in my mood. I've been a tasseled loafer basher from way back, but let's face it: not good to have a bunch of those guys honked off at you. Further, the Q has shown great top line growth but that's other line has been, shall we say, erratic. It is not surprising that the institutional community is in a show me the money mood. Last, the Q's manufacturing prowess is looking a might iffy. Toss all of the above in the hopper, add one big dollop of Asian meltdown, and you've got a Q price that makes all of our acquisition posts seem not quite so nutty.
If this Dent guy is right that NT ain't interested, I'm bummed cuz in my black little heart of hearts I figured that would be a neat fit..."

SNAP OUT OF IT! SCREW THESE ACQUISITION FANTASIES!

This is a great company, do I really have to make the case? Because if Gregg didn't I'm sure not gonna try!! Look at Omnitraks; the mighty Q at the top of the heap. In 10 years if Q isn't gobbled up and by God I hope they're not; they will bloody well OWN wireless. This is a company with tremendous VISION and of course there are risks but if you can't stand the heat, buy AT&T and GUARANTEE yourself the #1
buggy whip company in the world.

Not to worry about $75 per share offer

JMD,

Don't worry about something that won't happen. Q management is in a very strong position to defend against any hostile takeover attempt at less than $100 per share. Here's my two cents on this: Anybody with the $5 billion ready cash to steal the company has to know that their offer would set off a furious bidding contest immediately squeezing the 10 million share short interest. So let a serious takeover attempt be made... it will be defeated and the publicity and share price action would be a long term plus for the company and shareholders.
