Agree, keeping mining stocks for now but also plan to take physical delivery. Plan to go into the futures market using options when things really heat up and IMO they will like never before, to my thinking after 18 years of getting hammered the precious metals will shine like never before.

What gold stock holds promise ...
I only made one trade this year on Gold, buying TVX at 3 and
selling it at around 4 ...
How about Newmont Mining ???
There might be a lot of junior gold that holds promise,
but at this time, I would rather go with those in the XAU ...

that much equipment such as Caterpillars, etc. have date sensitive chips, especially to remind that service is due. Could that stop supply of Gold? What about railroads used to ship? My thought is that mining may shut down as well. Many gold mining companies may not be Y2K compliant with their computers.

Could be right. That is why it is so difficult to have the right feeling of Y2k on the price of mining stocks:

- Price might escalate even faster the coming 6-12 months when people realise possible disruptions in 18 months (additional hoarding / mining of gold..)
- Price might drop in the face of the actual disruptions after 1/1/2000.

Why not buy the physical now while the price is depressed?
