OT I've been laughing about "Japan Worship" myself. Remember Factor Z or whatever it was? The funniest turnabout for me, though, is the degree of complaint in Japan about Westerners buying up Japanese real estate. Or as Firesign Theater put it, "You so smart, who wonna' Second World War?" I wonder if the Pacific Rim's abusive import/export practices (including, most notably right now, the unsound and predatory financial practices of many Japanese banks) are going to prove a sort of economic Pearl Harbor for them. Still, even now while they're down, it is hard to gainsay Japan's wonderful achievement in giving the world such well-made and reasonably-priced motor vehicles -- there, at least, they deserve their success.
