Sounds to me as if your 286 was a machine someone didn't want to use any more, but was unwilling to throw away because someone else might be able to use it. A friend of mine was visiting Fort Hood the other day and watched a truck load of DELLs being unloaded at the 1st Cavalry Division HQ. She 'happened' to get some pictures...
