Andrew Announces US $3 Million Contract To Supply Weather Radar Antenna/Pedestal Systems ORLAND PARK, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 22, 1998--Andrew Corporation has been awarded a US $3 million contract by Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) to supply and install the WeatherSeeker Antenna/Pedestal Weather Surveillance System across Canada. The WeatherSeeker weather radar system will be supplied to Environment Canada as part of the National Radar Project (NRP), which includes implementation of new radar systems, and the retrofitting of existing radars. The Antenna/Pedestals will be installed by Andrew Corporation at sites throughout Canada, in the provinces of Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, and British Columbia. The office of the Minister of Public Works and Government Services Canada said that the award of this contract "underlines the confidence the Government of Canada places in companies like Andrew Canada to meet the rigid standards of excellence set for them by Environment Canada." The WeatherSeeker, operating at C-band, consists of a 6.1-meter diameter antenna and a high precision elevation over azimuth pedestal that supports identification and quantification of meteorological phenomena with Doppler Weather Radars at unattended sites.
