RC drilling is used for quick and fast extraction and evaluation. DeBeers is ruthlessly efficient in its exploration activities. They didnt need to use core drills for a mini bulk. WHY? Because minibulk is only a means towards geting to the real deal, the major bulk sample. This is where they will spend some real money and use core drills, set up a small DMS facililty on site, and extract a large amount of carats for evaluation. Minibulk was just a confirmation intermediate step. DeBeers is nothing if not methodical in their approach to business. Compare this with the pit mining done on the Winspear property. This is wh Winspear was able to extract those large diamonds-however at a big cost. DeBeers may be a lot of things, but wasteful they are not. RC drills were the cheapest and fastest to accomplish this intermediate step in proving up the ore values. The fact that they extracted 1.5-2.5 carat stones using an RC drill is testimony to the quality ofthe deposits.

If there exists a lot of breakage then grades may go down some but values will go up as most(80-90%) of the value lies in the bigger stones. This interplay between grade and value is important and we will have to wait for the final diamond values. Stay tuned.
