Pheonix,
I want to know more. It seems that you know a bit about the industry; perhaps you can enlighten me. First, as it concerns the Russian pull-out, I had thought they pulled out because of some type of industrial backlash (they pissed some US companies off by going oversees to buy R-12). Dupont was not happy with their image and offered some type of investment in their stock in return for ending this business (Dupont, as you have mentioned, needed someone to handle their used refrigeret; and HDSN felt that this alliance would buoy their stock and perhaps improve their acquisition capabilities). This decision and a few other major screw-up caused a lot of problems. Late in '96 they used a large portion of their remaining cash to buy domestic refrigerent when they thought that the price was right, but instead, the price continued to dive. Hence, big loss of working capital. The Dupont relationship actually worked wonders for the firm's image, but that soon passed as screw-ups and slow growth didn't really re-enforce investor's interest. Then, in mid-June was when HDSN dropped a bomb and said they had no money, investor's went bezerk. Everyone in Rockland County sold. HDSN was in the gutter. The stock went to 4. Everyone hated it.

Then they started restructuring. And got Zugibe the hell out of there. Another bright scientist that thinks they can manage a business... HDSN got a guy that really could do business. They showed earnings in the first quarter and got a large credit facility. Things seemed to be looking on the up and up.

HDSN who used to be that Russian R-12 company is no longer. HDSN of today is looking for other ways to get the job done. Maybe they will succeed, maybe they won't. But I am confident that there will be a demand for their service. After all, who the hell wants to buy a new air conditioner for an office building.

Let me know what you think.
